It could be tough.

Out of those 25, I've seen 19. They almos...Lists like this are almost meaningless. They almost always consist of the old classics, immortalise the great old classic actors, and directors - most of whom are now dead. And most are compiled (or edited) by movie buffs, who've been in the industry since the silent movie era (for whom these films probably represent the great films of their youth). So The Film Insitute reckons that NOT ONE SINGLE film has been made in the last 27 years (!) which warrants a place on this list. Drivel! Nonsense! What they need is a large cup of ShutTheFuckUp?

To list only classic films on the list of greatest-ever movies is the same as not including any modern cars on a list of Top Motors of the Century. Just because some of these films were undoubtedly put together with spit, dust and sellotape - and in which the stunts were done by the lighting man, after several bottles of bourbon and a week on the lash - does not make them any better than films that use modern tecknowledgie, does not make them more gripping, better acted, or any more relevant. Great list though...wouldn't change a thing on it. (Might swap The Deer Hunter for Singin' In The Rain, coz I fcuking HATE musicals!).

The above are the facts...and there's no point in arguing with the facts.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
